The 2015 NEAFL Grand Final umpiring panel has been announced with three officials set to make their debuts in Saturday night’s blockbuster between NT Thunder and Aspley in Darwin.
The season decider will be controlled by field umpires Alex Whetton, Cameron Barr and James Waldorff.
Scott Gordon, Gareth Hughes, Patrick Jackson and Joe Toon will run the boundary while Angus McKenzie-Willis and Alistair Meldrum will wave the flags between the goals.
It will be Barr, Whetton and Toon’s first NEAFL Grand Final appearance and they will be surrounded by plenty of experience.
Waldorff, Jackson and Meldrum were appointed in the NEAFL v Tasmania representative match earlier this year.
Queensland State Umpire Manager, Gary Fila, said the selected umpires have been rewarded for consistent NEAFL seasons.
“These umpires have had outstanding seasons and it has resulted in a very strong panel for Saturday night’s match,” he said.
“It is also a great achievement for Nic McGuiness and Darwin product Melissa Thiele to be selected as emergencies.
“They are looking forward to officiating what is shaping to be a great contest between Aspley and NT Thunder.”
