State rover Dayne Zorko won his third consecutive Jim Stubbs Medal for Broadbeach’s best and fairest player at the club presentation dinner on Friday night.
It is a remarkable effort by a player who is still only 21.
Broadbeach officials are adamant the clever ballwinner and goalkicker should be given an opportunity at AFL level and it will be interesting to see if the Gold Coast Suns will give a chance to one of the QAFL’s best young players.
Zorko was not the runaway winner that many were expecting, with the ultra-consistent Jesse Derrick staying in touch throughout the count before Zorko won by four votes.
Dashing defender Josh Searl was rewarded for an outstanding season in defence with third place, while Redland recruit Ryan Pantic was a close fourth.
Zorko also broke ace forward Korey Fulton’s stronghold on the club goalkicking award, denying Fulton for the first in 11 seasons as a Cat with a one-goal win.
