Youth Girls Comps Start This Weekend

Youth girls take the field this weekend

AFL Brisbane Juniors Under 15 & Under 18 Youth Girls Club competitions commence this weekend around Brisbane.

The Under 15 Youth Girls Competition has seven teams competing with new teams from Ipswich, Springwood and Jindalee coming into the 2012 season.   Mt Gravatt and Zillmere have dropped out of the competition in 2012 but progressed into the Under 18 Youth Girls competition with majority of their players too old for the Under 15 division.

Park Ridge will be looking to defend their premiership from 2011 with another strong team nominated for this year’s home and away season.

In the Under 18 Youth Girls Competition, Mt Gravatt, Zillmere/Redcliffe, Coorparoo/Alex Hills and Yeronga have all got solid teams for the 2012 season.   There has been a bit of player movement in the offseason with U18 State representatives Ashleigh Colenso and Annamieka Mole from Park Ridge & Yeronga respectively joining Hannah Sexton at Mt Gravatt JAFC.

Zillmere/Redcliffe have merged to form a united front from the northside with U18 State players Kristienne Hudson, Ally Anderson and U18 All-Australian player Tayla Harris all being on hand to guide the newer members of the Tigers.

Coorparoo/Alex Hills have also aligned in 2012 with the instigation of an Under 15 & Under 18 team at the Club.   Coorparoo’s Maddie Protheroe will be joined by Darling Downs & Under 18 State team mates Marnie McGorm and Isabelle Baldock to form a competitive alliance in the east.

Lastly Yeronga will again be the favourites heading in to this year’s season with a star-studded line up including U18 State players Emily Bates, Caitlin Collins, Jordan Zanchetta, Nikki Wallace, Jess Malouf and Anna O’Keeffe.

Good luck to all the teams for the upcoming season.
