Queensland’s elite female footballers will be on show in the All-Stars curtain raiser to the Round 2 Gold Coast SUNS v St. Kilda clash at Metricon Stadium this Saturday.
The match provides players with an opportunity to show their skills and plays an important part in the selection process for the AFL Women’s Draft.
The All-Stars teams comprise players from the state’s new Women’s Talent Academy, the 2015 Youth Girls Academy and players hand-picked from regional leagues.
AFL Queensland Female High Performance Manager, Craig Starcevich, is keen for local fans to get behind Queensland’s best.
“Having this game as a curtain raiser to an AFL game is a fantastic opportunity to showcase female football,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to see that women do play football at a high level and that Queensland has a great pool of talent.”
Teams will play in Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast SUNS guernseys.
