VULTURES-THUNDER MOVED TO SUNDAY

Friday 27 August 2010 (6.40pm)

Followers of Mt Gravatt and the Northern Territory Thunder are advised that the QAFL elimination final between the two clubs has been moved from Saturday to Sunday at Giffin Park, Coorparoo. at 2pm.

The Thunder squad was stranded at Darwin airport this afternoon (Friday) after mechanical problems saw their flight to Brisbane cancelled.

The next available plane does not leave until 2am Saturday morning, with the Thunder now expected to travel through the night.

QAFL Operations Manager Martin King and other League officials worked on a contingency plan for a new fixture that is fair to both clubs involved, hence the Sunday afternoon start.

The qualifying final between Southport and Morningside at Fankhauser Reserve scheduled for Sunday will remain in place.

The reserves qualifying final between Mt Gravatt and Morningside at Southport on Sunday has been moved forward an hour to 10am to allow Vultures support staff and officials to get to Giffin Park for the senior final.

The Saturday reserves elimination final between Labrador and the Western Magpies at Giffin Park will proceed as planned at 11am.
