Vale Jack Handasyde

Jack “JK” Handasyde, one of Queensland’s great AFL ambassadors, has passed away.

JK was patron of Coorparoo AFC from 1956 to 1982 and saw the Club flourish through its golden years, with Premierships coming in 1960/61, 1963/64 and 1968.

His Holden dealership at Stones Corner provided jobs and opportunities for many players and supporters over the years, before JK retired to the Gold Coast.

His love of the game was legendary and he enjoyed the competition between the then Brisbane based QAFL Clubs.

JK was a foundation Director of the Brisbane Bears and the Club’s eventual premierships were a highlight for him.

Australian Rules football in Queensland owes much to Jack Handasyde for his contribution to our great game.

Vale JK.
