The Queensland football community is mourning the sudden passing of longtime NAB AFL Auskick Volunteers, Gary and Leigh Mitchell.
The husband and wife team had been involved with the Auskick program for many years through running centres and coordinating the half-time Auskick activities at the Gabba and Metricon.
Gary and Leigh took a step back a few years ago from their involvement with AFL, however their son Jason still continues to coordinate the Gabba Auskick.
Thousands of children have had the experience of a lifetime – playing on an AFL venue – thanks to Gary and Leigh’s dedication and love of the game.
The couple was also heavily involved with AFL Masters, where Gary was a life and Hall of Fame member.
They will long be remembered for their passion and dedication and will be sorely missed.
A service for the couple will be held tomorrow Saturday, March 7 at 12 noon at the Great Southern Memorial Park Crematorium, 1774-1794 Mt Cotton Road, Carbrook.
