Upcoming Level 2 Coaching Course – Brisbane

AFL Queensland will be holding a Level 2 Coaching Course on Saturday, November 20th at Iona College in Wynnum West.

The Level 2 Coach Accreditation is a blended learning program that consists of both online and face to face course components.

The program has been revised and adapted as a result of the redesign and rollout of the CoachAFL Accreditation Model in 2018.

The six coaching competencies coaches will go through include;

  1. Creating a vision and philosophy
  2. Shape the Environment
  3. Build Relationships and guide learning
  4. Coach at Training
  5. Coach the Game
  6. Personal learning and reflection

The focus and philosophy of the one-day face to face component of the Level 2 is coach-centered – i.e. engaging the course participants in the learning process.

Coaching and Education Lead – Queensland, Jack Barry said it was an ideal opportunity for coaches to head into their 2022 season well prepared for their players and club.

“The growth of the game has now presented many opportunities for both men and women coaches to become invested in our game and I’m sure they will get plenty of information about coaching at this course that will benefit them going forward,” he said.

“You will learn a lot about your coaching beliefs, trends of the game, planning, skill acquisition but most importantly creating a welcoming and learning environment for your players and volunteers.

“Experienced coaches will be on hand to deliver the course and we encourage coaches and assistant coaches to attend the one day course.”

The course will commence from 8.00 for 8.30 start until 5.30pm with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea included.
