SUNS out for Tamborine Hawks

Gold Coast Suns players Jacob Gilbee and Henry Schade brought a touch of AFL magic to a recent Tamborine Hawks JAFC  training session at St Bernard’s State School.

The stars put the juniors through their paces, guiding the young Hawks through some skills practice before taking on coaching and umpiring roles for a modified game.

The fledgling club is in its first year of competition as part of the Western Rim Cluster Competition alongside Beaudesert, Fassifern and Jimboomba.

Club president Leanne Crotty said that while the Hawks have been working hard in their inaugural year the SUNS help provides an extra boost to the young club.

“It is fantastic that to have the support of the Gold Coast SUNS on the Mountain,” said Crotty.

“It is an extra draw card that will help with the transition of kids into playing AFL”.

At the end of the training session Gilbee and Schade presented the club with a signed Gold Coast SUNS jersey which the club will use to raise funds.

The Tamborine Hawks trains on Thursday from 3.30pm til 4.30pm at St Bernard’s State School and plays every Saturday morning with the occasional Friday night game.

The club welcomes boys and girls aged between 5 – 12 years old.
