Stats Go Live for Finals

‘AFLQ Scores,’ an app created by Murray Bird, the same face behind the ‘Interchanger,’ coaching and interchange software, will be used to display live statistics for the QWAFL grand final, all QAFL finals and the QAFL grand final.

AFLQ Scores has already been used in the QWAFL preliminary finals to great success, according to Bird.

“We trialed it last week, it worked fantastically and we’re looking forward to doing it this weekend,” he said.

The app, available for both Android and iOS devices, will allow local footy fans to not only track the scores, but also detailed match statistics including individual player stats.

Impressively, live stats are fed to the app every minute for each team’s centre clearances, stoppages and inside fifties, alongside player stats for kicks, handballs, marks and tackles.

Brisbane Juniors finals will also be a beneficiary of the app, though it will not reflect individual player stats for junior games.

Bird created the Interchanger platform with the ultimate goal of it being a functional tool for coaches, but also a way to allow community footy to share statistics with its audience in an affordable way.

AFLQ Scores collects its information from statisticians at the game, who enter the stats into Murray’s Interchanger software which in turn, is connected to the AFLQ Scores mobile app.

QWAFL Competition Manager Fiona Jones was excited with the prospect of having live stats available for QWAFL fans over the 2017 finals series.

“It continues to drive the high performance level of the competition, which is great,” said Jones.

“Hopefully everyone downloads the app and has some fun with it at the game.”

The QWAFL grand final will be held at Leyshon Park, Yeronga on Sunday at 3.15 pm. A running list of Queensland finals and grand finals can be found on
