State League and Community Competitions

Quality Umpiring is one of the primary reasons why players continue to participate in Australian Rules Football. Teaching the skills, tactics and strategies of AFL Umpiring is a rewarding experience, with the Umpire having the most influence upon other officials or persons connected with football.

AFL Queensland have developed a strategic pathway for all Umpires participating across the state. The AFL Queensland Umpiring pathway has been divided into four areas that will allow tailored curriculum and umpires with ambition to advance throughout the Umpiring Pathway.

An Umpire can progress through all aspects of the Umpiring Pathway at their own speed. The Umpiring Pathway is divided into four key areas:

– Elite (AFL)
– High Performance (State League/VFL)
– Community (Youth/Senior)
– Introduction
