Sandgate Hawks Vs Western Magpies
This weekend sees the battle of the Hawks Vs the Magpies in the SEQAFL under 18 Division 1 Cup. Both teams will feel they deserve to advance into the grand final and face the Maroochydore Roos but only one will survive.
These teams have played each other twice during the home and away season and have come away with a win each, interestingly both as the away team.
The Hawks are coming off a 4-point loss to the Roos and will be looking for a big improvement. They started out of the blocks very slowly last week but once they hit their straps they were hard to stop. They fell just short in the end and Coach Brett (Snowy) Ayton will be looking for a better start this week.
Tyler Arnott-Hollick has had a busy week, being best afield for Sandgate and collecting his second successive league best and fairest on Monday night.
He will be looking to continue his amazing form heading into this weekend’s game and will be hoping to get some assistance from Jordan Fuller and Luke Conroy around the ground and goal kicking machine Jack Kavanagh.
The Magpies, on the other hand, are coming off a good solid win against Noosa. They extended their lead at every break, eventually running out winners by 7-goals. The Magpies will be hoping to take that good run of form into this weekend’s match and Coach Craig Allen will have his chargers up and about with the understanding everything is on the line.
Liam Zanchetta and Sam McClennan will be hoping to get plenty of football around the ground. Key forward Ryan Fletcher bagged four majors and his partner in crime David Lewis kicked three so the hawks will want to prevent the football getting to these two boys.
With the SEQAFL Division 1 Reserves game also being played between these two clubs both Under 18 teams will be hoping to give their reserves a boost as they run out onto the field.
This will be a hotly contested game with the game likely to come down to who can run out the four quarters.
Will the Magpies continue to fly high or will the hawks claw their way to victory?
