SEQAFL DIv 3 Preview rnd 2

Division 3 this week will be an interesting round as teams jostle for positions on the ladder before the Easter Break

Coomera takes on Caboolture in the opening game of round 2 at Coomera Sports Park. The two teams have had vastly different lead ups to this contest, with the Magpies having a good win against Griffith Moorooka last week winning by 38 points, and the Lions going down by 1 point at the hands of the reigning premiers Nambour. Both Connor Tuckerman and Brendan Pieters were solid contributors in the win for the Magpies last week, but they will have their hands full with Mark Schmidt and Tim Beaven who are in white hot form following last week’s game,

Calamvale will host Griffith Moorooka at the college this week. After suffering loses last week these two sides will be looking to turn their fortunes around in round 2. There were shining lights for Calamvale last week in their crushing defeat from Redcliffe. There is a chance to redeem themselves this week against the Roosters at home.  Griffith Moorooka  by all reports have turned the corner except for a twenty minute lapse last week they were right in the game against the Magpies and will need to back up with another strong effort this round.

Nambour and their sharpshooter Nick Morgan will be up against Logan in a Grand Final Replay clash at Jubilee Drive oval at Palmwoods. Currently leading the goalkicking race,  Nick Morgan may prove to be the difference if he can kick another bag this week. Logan will want to keep their  season going after a loss last round against Red Lions 2. Dan Milligan will hope to build from his best on ground effort last week to steer the Cobras to a win to get their season back on track.

Redcliffe will travel to Limestone Park this week to face Ipswich in a crucial game for both teams. after a crushing win against Calamvale last week by 95 points. Richard Kernick was impressive with 4 majors, but it will be a task to get past the Eagles who went down to  Beenleigh by 25 points in their last outing. David Hume would want to turn the Eagles fortunes around in this game to go into the easter break with 1 – 1 ratio to come back and get on with business

The final game will feature Red Lions 2 taking on Beenleigh at Moorooka. Red Lions 2  will again be looking for another win after defeating Logan last week to open the season. The Buffaloes may have their work cut out for them this week as the  Red Lions who were devastating form last week in their win to Logan. Jed King and Matt Derreck will again need to stand tall if they are any hope of getting close to this strong Red Lions outfit..
