SEQAFL DIVISION 2 SENIORS PRELIMINARY FINAL
UQ Red Lions vs. Kenmore
Preliminary Final
The UQ Red Lions will have travel to Kianawah Rd for their chance at a grand final berth and to avoid bowing out of the finals race in straight sets.
They will be acutely aware that this is their last chance after being dealt a lesson in finals footy last week by Coorparoo who got out of the blocks early, held their lead and ran out winners by two goals.
The Red Lions lacked any real strike-power up forward and were unable to run with Coorparoo after half time.
The six-goals to five second half wrapped up what was a disappointing outing in a crucial game, with the result now being a do-or-die Preliminary final against the in-form Kenmore.
Last week the Bears disposed of Aspley Hornets in emphatic fashion with the help of an incredible 11 goal first half.
This was due largely to the likes of Tim Plummer and Ben Silvey, who had seven goals between them, while Brendan Stirling kicked two.
Kenmore had three other goal kickers on the day and was well served by Tom Baldwin in a superb best-on-ground effort.
The two sides have shared the points so far this year, with Kenmore winning by 20 points in the last game of the regular season only three weeks ago.
The inconsistent second half of the year will make it tough to predict whether Kenmore will produce what they are fully capable of and get over the Red Lions in this encounter.
