Restructure for SEQAFL Competitions

AFL Queensland has announced changes to the SEQAFL community football competitions for season 2013 following a review of current structures.

Community Competitions Manager for AFL Queensland Cherie Brockwell said the organisation received a number of applications/submissions from clubs requesting either entry into competitions or changing divisions.

Submissions were reviewed by management with each Competition Coordinator presenting their recommendations and proposed structure at a full Football Department meeting.

Changes for 2013 include the UQ Red Lions moving from Division 2 to Division 1 while Caloundra will jump two spots to Division 2.

Pine Rivers and Carrara have moved up to Division 3 with Zillmere Eagles and Bribie Island moving into the Division 4 senior competition.

AFL Queensland also took the opportunity to announce some staffing changes around community football.

Simon Devine has been appointed Competition Coordinator for SEQAFL Divisions 1 and 2 with David Heilbron Competition Coordinator for Division 3 and 4.

For the Under 18’s, Simon Devine will coordinate the Division One Cup Competition while David Heilbron will take charge of the Division Two North and Central competitions.

The Under 18 Shield Competition will be managed by NEAFL Operations Manager Craig Millar.
