Queensland Women’s Squad named

AFL Queensland has announced the Queensland Women’s State  Squad to play Tasmania on June 7 at the Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex, Burpengary. 

The squad includes Queensland’s five current AFL Exhibition Game players – Emma Zielke, Emily Bates, Jordan Zanchetta, Leah Kaslar, and Tayla Harris – plus previous exhibition players Ally Anderson (Zillmere) and Natalie Thomas (Yeronga).

Twenty-six of the 30 player preliminary squad are members of the State Women’s Academy which trained fortnightly from November last year through to April.

Three members of the squad – Luana Healy, Tahlia Randall,  and Tayla Harris – were a part of the Queensland Youth Girls who were runners-up this year at the National Championships in WA.

The squad also includes two Cairns based players – Selina Goodman & Luana Healy (North Cairns Tigers) and Alana McNabb from  Mackay’s Eastern Swans.

The squad will train at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre at Nathan on Wednesday May 20 at 6:30pm, before returning to the State Training and Administration Centre at Yeronga for sessions on Wednesday May 27, June 3, and Friday June 5 (all at 6:30pm).

The squad will be reduced to a final 22  Wednesday June 3.
