QFA Divisions 3 and 4 2024 Fixtures Released

The QFA Friday night competitions continue to grow with 34 teams taking to the field in divisions three and four.

AFL Queensland has granted licences to seven new clubs for the 2024 season, with the inclusion of Yeronga, Southport, Hinterland, Kedron, Redcliffe, Moreton Bay and Carrara.

Carrara and Southport will join the QFA Division 4 South competition, while Redcliffe, Hinterland and Yeronga will join the QFA Division 4 North competition.

Moreton Bay will join the QFA Division 3 North competition, as will Caloundra after being promoted from QFA Division 4 after winning the premiership in 2023.

The QFA Division 3 North competition has undergone significant changes, with the promotion of Zillmere and Pine Rivers to the QFA Division 2 North competition under AFL Queensland’s aspirational competition model.

Coorparoo has also been granted a second licence with this side also joining the QFA Division 3 competition. With Coorparoo set to be elevated to the QAFL in 2025, Coorparoo has been granted a licence to field a second team in a Friday Night competition to support the development of their playing list ahead of the transition.

AFL Queensland Competitions Manager Mitchell Simpson is pleased with the rapid growth of the Friday night competition.

“This season we’ve seen movement across all divisions with teams like Caloundra, elevated to Division 3 North, and the introduction of new teams across almost all divisions,” he said.

“The introduction of new teams like Southport is a positive step in the transition from Youth Football to Senior Football.

“Under the new structure, season 2023 was a huge success and with some new faces taking to the field for 2024, I look forward to seeing how our Friday Night competitions evolve on-field again this year.”

Both QFA Division 3 and 4 North and South competitions will kick off April 12 with each team playing 14 matches across 18 weeks in the North, and 19 weeks in the South.

Round 2 will see Pacific Pines and Coorparoo go head-to-head in a Division 3 South grand final rematch.

All competitions will celebrate the themed rounds in line with the rest of the state including ANZAC Round in April, Sir Doug Nicholls Round in May and Pride Round in July.

Finals start on August 16 before the Grand Finals on September 6 (Division 3 and 4 South) and September 13 (Division 3 and 4 North).
