The QFA Division 2 North Alpha Sport Premiership and QFAW Division 2 North fixture has been released, with the return of some powerhouses and the introduction of fresh faces.
In the QFA Division 2, 12 teams will compete for premiership glory following the elevation of Pine Rivers and Zillmere at the end of 2023.
For both clubs, this will not be their first time playing in the Division 2 North competition. Pine Rivers returns for the first time in three years after exiting the competition at the end of the 2021 season. For Zillmere, a previous powerhouse of Queensland footy, this elevation sees the club playing Saturday football for the first time in 16 years, after their departure from the QAFL competition.
Supporters will not have long to wait for a Grand Final rematch, with Kenmore and reigning premiers Alexandra Hills, meeting in Round 3.
In the QFAW, the competition will see two new fresh faces in 2024, with Kedron and Redcliffe joining the ranks.
This season will also see a new premier crowned, with four-time Grand Finalists and reigning Noosa elevated to the QFAW Divion 1 competition in 2024.
competitions will recognise Sir Doug Nicholls Round on games played on Saturday May 18 and Saturday May 25. Pride Round will be celebrated on Saturday July 13.
Clubs will also celebrate important milestones in 2024, with Mayne celebrating 100 years in May.
AFL Queensland’s Competitions Manager Mitchell Simpson said the action on the field will be fierce across both competitions.
“The QFA Division 2 North Alpha Sport Premiership will go to a new level in 2024 with the elevation of two new teams,” he said.
“In the QFAW Division 2, we will see a new premier in 2024, which will provide plenty of motivation for all of our clubs, including the two new faces, Redcliffe and Kedron.
“Both competitions have recruited well in the off season, so we are excited to watch what will unfold on the field in 2024.”
Following a six-team finals series, both Grand Finals will be held on Saturday September.
