QClash Wheelchair Series | Game 2 – SUNS rise to level series

The Gold Coast Suns have levelled the three-game series, coming from behind at three-quarter time to send the inaugural QClash Wheelchair series into a decider on October 8.

Brisbane came out firing scoring the first three goals of the match and went into the first break, keeping the SUNS goal-less in an entertaining open stanza. It was a second quarter blitz by the SUNS as the Gold Coast scored four-quick goals, with the Lions only managing to record the 1-major. SUNS captain Stephen French was outstanding in the first half, leading from the front. On debut, Farhan Ahmedada was the most damaging Lion on court proving a handful for his QClash rivals.

The third quarter was an arm-wrestle with both teams unable to get into a flow with the footy just about parking itself in the middle zone. The Lions made the most of their opportunities in the front third, slotting two goals to one to hold a slender 3-point at the final change.

Both team’s defensive units were outstanding with the football zipping around court, with both teams’ strong forwards unable to hit the scoreboard regularly. However, the SUNS led by Andrew Miller (4 goals), Chris Robson and captain Stephen French taking his QClash Series goal tally to 11-majors the SUNS held on a thriller. For the Lions, Tristan Orchard, and debutant Farhan Ahmedada (4-goals) were outstanding for the defeated team.
