NOT TOO LATE TO NOMINATE YOUR BEST AFL VOLUNTEER

It’s not too late to nomimate your best footy volunteer, but be quick, entries close 5pm, this Monday 5 July 2010.

AFL Queensland is calling for last minute nominations for the 2010 Quest Community Newspapers Australian Football Volunteer of the Year Award.

This is a new initiative, launched as part of AFL Queensland’s new partnership with Quest Community Newspapers, to recognise the invaluable role that volunteers play at all levels of football.

It is a simple process with anyone being able to nominate outstanding volunteer at the Quest Community Newspapers Competition page of the website –
www .questnews.com. au – or download the flyer at the bottom of this story and send your nomination details to: Locked Bag 999, Kelvin Grove DC QLD 4059.

In nominating your club, school or centre’s top volunteers, you will be asked to explain why, in 100 words or less, that person deserves to be nominated for the Quest Community Newspapers Australian Football Volunteer of the Year Award.

Be sure to include your name, contact phone number, postal address and email address, as well as your local Quest newspaper area, plus your nomination’s contact details, AFL club, school or AFL Auskick centre.

“When we’ve collated all the nominations one nominee will be chosen from each of the 15 mid week Quest title areas across Brisbane,” says Penny French, AFL Queensland’s Corporate Relations.

“Each of the 15 regional winners will be invited to attend a special celebration dinner with an AFL Ambassador on Wednesday, 4 August, at the Pineapple Hotel, and will receive a prize pack valued at over $300.

“From this group of regional winners we’ll select one overall winner, who will be presented with their award at the AFL Queensland’s statewide volunteer recognition awards dinner in November.”

The prize pack for regional winners will include a hard cover copy of the commemorative book “The Australian Game of Football since 1858”, a small Sherrin footy signed by the AFL Ambassador, a medallion and a certificate.

Nominations close thisMonday, 5 July, 2010, with regional winners to be announced online and in Quest Newspapers on 22 July 2010.
