Football fans are in for a great day out when Aspley Hornets take on the Sydney Swans Reserves in the North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) Grand Final to be played at Graham Rd, Aspley this Saturday.
The Hornets earned their grand final spot with an upset win over minor premiers UWS Giants at Blacktown on Saturday and will be looking to carry on their recent run of good form.
The Sydney Swans Reserves were runners up in the 2013 NEAFL Grand Final against the Brisbane Lions Reserves and finished second on the ladder in 2014. They beat NT Thunder by 62-points on Sunday to book their grand final berth.
AFL National Second Tier Manager Simon Laughton said he was expecting a tight contest.
“It’s very exciting to have the NEAFL Grand Final in Brisbane this Saturday,” said Laughton.
“This is the second successive year the Grand Final has been played at Graham Road Reserve and with two in-form teams we are expecting a bumper crowd for what shapes up as an enthralling match.”
Patrons will enjoy a full day of AFL action kicking off at 10:00am when Aspley take on Surfers Sharks in the Colts Grand Final.
The main event kicks off at 1:30pm and half-time will feature an Aspley vs. Swans NAB AFL Auskick match and a lap of honour by premiership junior teams and league best and fairest winners.
Fans are encouraged to bring their own footballs to join in the traditional after match kick-to-kick.
Please note that no alcohol is allowed to be taken into the venue.
The Aspley Hornets Bistro, canteen and a licensed bar will operate during the event.
