The NAB AFL Auskick super clinic proved a huge success in Mackay.
More than 75 Mackay junior AFL fans and their families were treated to a free night of fun last Friday at the NAB AFL Auskick super clinic at Harrup Park.
Gold Coast SUNS player Daniel Gorringe was on hand to help put the kids through their paces as well as signing autographs and being the star of a Q and A session.
The super clinic was jointly run by AFL Queensland and NAB staff, who were only too happy to offer their time to assist.
AFL Queensland Auskick co-ordinator Stuart Seager said that events like this would not be possible were it not for the AFL’s partnership with NAB.
“We certainly appreciate the support and the strong relationship between NAB and AFL at a local and national level,” Seager said.
AFL Mackay Development officer Dion Obst said that AFL growth in the region has also been given a boost.
“We’ve been experiencing a lot of growth in the sport and we can pay particular thanks to events like the super clinic and NAB AFL Auskick programs for that,” Obst said.
“High-quality events like this one really help to draw families into AFL.”
The super clinic also proved a great warm-up for Mackay under 9 and 11 footballers who play their club games on Friday nights.
Based on the success of the clinic in Mackay, NAB and AFL Queensland look forward to offering future clinics in other regions throughout the state.
