The 2012 NAB AFL Draft returns to the Gold Coast this November, offering a superb backdrop to the second biggest media event in the AFL’s calendar.
With over 100 top young athletes from Australia vying for selection at AFL Clubs, the NAB AFL Draft is always an exciting event. Following a very busy Trade period, and the entry of both the Gold Coast SUNS and the GWS Giants into the AFL competition , the 2012 Draft will see a return to a more traditional event with all Clubs looking to secure amazing young talent. This year three young guns will follow in their father footsteps. Joe Daniher, son of Bombers great Anthony Daniher, Jack Viney, son of Demons star Todd Viney and Lachlan Hunter, son of Bulldogs defender Mark Hunter, are all eligible to be recruited under the father-son rule.
AFL Club members, participants and volunteers in Queensland and Northern NSW are invited to attend on Thursday November 22. The event will again be staged at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach from 5.30 – 7.30pm (local time).

The 2012 NAB AFL Draft will also be broadcast live nationally on Fox Sports.
AFL Queensland is staging a full week’s program of activities surrounding the Draft, including:
– the Affiliates Conference,
– Volunteers’ Awards Dinner,
– a staff conference,
– Under 12 Rookie Search event with the Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast SUNS,
– a Combine testing event for over 200 young male and female athletes,
– Cadbury’s AFL 9’s corporate challenge
– Talent Identification Course, and
– AFL Level 2 Coaching Course.
