What you need to know if you are heading to the Maroochydore NAB Cup match this weeken

EVENT INFORMATION FOR NAB CUP in MAROOCHYDORE

Saturday March 10 will be a great day for sports fans on the Sunshine Coast, with the first AFL Pre-season match between the Brisbane Lions and Carlton to be played at the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex in front of a sold-out crowd of 5,000 people.

Patrons will enjoy an afternoon of AFL action in a relaxed, old-fashioned atmosphere on the grass around the main oval.  The AFL Playground will operate from when gates open until the end of half-time with plenty of fun, free activity for kids.  Team merchandise will be available for sale, NAB has lots of great give-aways and SEA FM will be onsite.  Fans are encouraged to bring their own footballs to join in the traditional after match Kick-to-Kick on the main oval.

The venue capacity was set in consultation with the Council and Police at 5,000 people for public comfort and optimum viewing.  Patrons are encouraged to use public transport and arrive early to get a good vantage point. In many places it is expected to be standing room only. Please note that no chairs, tents or marquees can be brought in to the venue.

The canteen, two licensed bars and food outlets will operate during the event. All profits from the sale of the food and drinks will go back into supporting local football.

Prepaid Ticket Collection

Tickets for the NAB Cup match between the Brisbane Lions and Carlton have sold out. No further tickets will be released. No tickets will be sold at the match.

Patrons who have purchased tickets from Ticketmaster and need to collect them are strongly encouraged to pick them up before match day. Proof of identification will be required.

Ticket collection will operate from the AFL Queensland – Sunshine Coast office on Wednesday 7, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 March between 9am and 5pm. The office is located inside the main building at the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex. For enquiries call 5451 0233.

For those unable to collect tickets in advance, please come to the Ticket Collection tent near Gate A from 2pm on Saturday. (refer to above map link)

Public Transport
Patrons in possession of an event ticket can travel free with Translink to and from Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex on Sun Bus and Qld Rail scheduled services between 11:40am and 10:30pm.

Patrons are advised to use the journey planner to find out which scheduled bus services travel to and from the venue.

Patrons travelling by train are advised to use the journey planner to find out which scheduled train services travel to and from Landsborough and Nambour stations.

Event Shuttle Buses
Event shuttle buses will run from Sunshine Plaza every 20 minutes from 1.30pm with the last service departing at 4pm. 

Shuttles will commence services to Sunshine Plaza for one hour after the final siren has sounded.

Taxis
A public taxi rank/drop off zone will operate before and after the match along Bradman Avenue. Patrons will be able to enter the venue via Gate B off Bradman Avenue.

Parking
Limited paid parking will be available within, and across the road from Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex. The parking fee in the car parks is $10 per vehicle. A donation will be made to the local SES branch from car parking fees.

Due to the fact that the match is sold out, patrons intending to park are asked to car pool and arrive early. 

Please obey all Parking signs on the streets and in car parks surrounding the Complex to avoid heavy fines.

There is a drop-off site close to Entry Gate A on Fisherman’s Road for anyone with wheelchairs or difficulty walking long distances.  Cars displaying a valid Disability Parking sticker will be able to park in the car park closest to Gate A, off Fisherman’s Road.

Wet Weather
Please visit this site in the case of bad weather for updates on parking and transport.  Car parks may be closed due to heavy rain or wet grounds.

People with disabilities
There is a reserved seating area for people with disabilities immediately in front of the main building. Patrons and their friends/family are asked to access this area from the canteen.

The accessible toilet is located adjacent to the canteen.

ATM
A mobile NAB ATM will be located on the south eastern side of the ground, in the car park near Gate C.

Merchandise
The Brisbane Lions will have a merchandise and membership tent, at the southern end of the main oval. 

First Aid
St John volunteers will be located to the north of the main building (Fisherman’s Road side) for any patrons requiring medical assistance.

WHAT CAN BE TAKEN INTO MAROOCHYDORE MULTI SPORTS COMPLEX

• Water and non-alcoholic beverages in plastic or cardboard packages which have not been previously opened
• Food items which are homemade such as sandwiches, biscuits, cakes, provided they are packaged appropriately.
• Picnic rugs
• Binoculars and personal cameras
• Umbrellas, however please respect other patrons sitting around you
• Soft cooler bags or small eskies.

WHAT CANNOT BE TAKEN INTO MAROOCHYDORE MULTI SPORTS COMPLEX

• Folding chairs or stools.
• Marquees or tents.
• Alcohol will be confiscated if patrons are caught trying to bring any into the venue;
• Crockery, cans, opened bottles, glass containers, dangerous or illegal substances, flares, fireworks, laser pointers, loud hailers and musical instruments including horns and whistles;
• Potential weapons such as knives, chains, studded belts, etc or any items which are regarded as offensive, or which can be used as a projectile or create litter (this includes pizza cartons, streamers, confetti and ticker-tape);
• Items, which in the opinion of Management, have the potential to cause injury or are a nuisance or inconvenience to any other person.

OTHER INFORMATION

Alcohol
Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex is a licensed venue. Alcoholic beverages must not be taken into or out of Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex. It is an offence for minors to purchase or consume alcohol or for persons to supply alcohol to minors.

Alcohol can only be bought and consumed at the two confined bar areas on the eastern side of the ground. Outside of the designated bar areas will be an alcohol free zone at the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex.

Excessive consumption of alcohol will not be tolerated. Intoxicated and disorderly persons will be refused entry and / or further service.

Please don’t drink excessively during the event or you may be asked to leave the ground.  Please do not drink and drive. Act responsibly.

Bag Searches
Bag searches will take place at the gates, so you will need to queue if you bring a bag. There will be no cloaking available at Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex, so please don’t bring any prohibited items as they will be confiscated. Management has the right to refuse entry to patrons carrying prohibited items, or confiscate those items.

Code of Behaviour
Offensive, discriminatory or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in offending patrons being evicted. Management reserves the right to prohibit entry and evict persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol, who are intoxicated, disorderly or engage in inappropriate behaviour, vandalism or evade admission.

Food & Beverage
Food and Beverage will be available from the bars, food vans and canteen around the venue.

Minors
An adult must accompany children under the age of 12

Smoking
Under the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998 (QLD) smoking is only permitted in the DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA in the North Eastern section of the precinct. The consumption of food or drink in these areas is NOT permitted.
