INDIGENOUS OPPORTUNITIES AT COLES

‘Coles’ recent support with the 1st Inaugural 2011 National ‘Kickstart’ Championships on the Gold Coast has opened up new pathways for some young Indigenous boys from SEQ.

As part of this great initiative that ‘Coles’ has started, a young Indigenous boy Chase Coghill, who was a part of the U15’s Queensland Indigenous side which competed at the Championships, was able to lock in his first job with the Supermarket giant.  The young 14 year old who resides in the Northern NSW suburb of Banora Point, quiet spoken Chase stated, “He was excited and grateful for the opportunity to be able to obtain employment through the program.”

Coles are excited to be able to support and assist Indigenous Youth in gaining employment and have worked closely with Indigenous AFL and their programs to better understand how they can improve Indigenous Employment in their company. ‘Coles’ Indigenous Coordinators provided additional support and guidance to Chase & his family throughout the application and interview process and Chase was successful on his own merits.

Good luck to Chase in his new job and AFL is looking forward to getting more Indigenous youth employed at Coles through this program.
