How does your school become an AFL Queensland Schools of Excellence?

To be considered to apply to become an AFL Queensland Schools of Excellence, schools are required to meet the below pre-application requirements.
  • Minimum 2 years participation in the StreetSmarts AFL Queensland Schools Cup – all divisions (secondary)
  • Nominated for current calendar year to participate in StreetSmarts AFL Queensland Schools Cup – all divisions, including disability inclusion division.
  • Connect to an AFL Community Club through promotion and recruitment initiatives.
  • Ability to host match days at school with co-usage with the AFL, for venue usage and/or willingness to plan for facility development for use of QSoE and AFL.
  • In-school programming regularly booked in semesterly into schooling calendar (i.e. Sporting Schools)

AFL Queensland endorses 12 schools as AFL Queensland Schools of Excellence in Queensland currently, who are required to meet 7 key categories annually to be listed as a QSoE. Failure to meet these standards, is a loss of endorsement with schools signing an MOU between the AFL and school.
