HAWKS FAVOURITES FOR RESERVES FLAG

DEFENDING champions Sandgate have the necessary form on the board to make it back-to-back premierships in the AFLQ Premier Division reserve grade competition.

The Hawks take on Western Magpies in the seconds decider at Fisherman’s Road on the Sunshine Coast (11am start) and results this year indicate another trophy for the northern Brisbane club.
Sandgate have beaten the Magpies three times this season, twice in the home-and-away fixtures and again in the qualifying final a fortnight ago.
Om round seven, the Hawks scored by 9.5 (59) to 8.6 (54) and in round 15 it was Sandgate by 13.4 (82) to 6.7 (43).
Then in the qualifier, the Hawks prevailed again by 18.5 (113) to 9.9 (63).
Both sides have qualified for the grand final by beating minor premiers Palm Beach-Currumbin in the play-offs.
Sandgate beat the Lions by 33 points in the second semi-final, then the Magpies beat them by 31 points in the preliminary final.
