A versatile type noted for his toughness and courage who played anywhere from fullback to ruck-rover and full forward. A former Fitzroy player, albeit only for one senior game in 1946, he moved to Queensland in 1949 to join Mayne and later was Sandgate’s first premiership captain-coach in 1956-57. Also had a brief stint at Windsor. A State team regular through the 1950’s, he was Queensland’s best player at the 1950 carnival in Brisbane he also coached the state side. Later became club president and is something of a Sandgate icon.
