Girls invited to join Northern Rivers teams

The recent growth in girl’s school football across the Northern Rivers region will see the introduction of Under 15 and Under 18 youth girls teams with girls aged 13 to 18 invited to join.

The girls will have access to the best facilities in the area with both teams being based at the new Byron Regional Sports and Cultural Complex.

Quality coaches and AFL QLD staff will oversee the program to ensure a smooth entry into the competition in the teams’ inaugural year.

The first training session will be held on Wednesday August 28 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm and is open to girls of any experience level.

There will be a practice match on the 11th of September with the girls playing Coolangatta at Coolangatta AFC at 6pm.

The Northern Rivers girls will also have the opportunity to be selected in the combined Gold Coast/Northern Rivers Under  17 Youth Girls Representative team who will compete at the Under 17 State Championships in November.

Girls planning to attend must email program coordinator Molly Kenwood at aflnrj@gmail.com to confirm their attendance prior to the first training session.
