iThe Sunshine Coast’s Eumundi is becoming a booming area for some of the state’s youngest footy players.
Eumundi State School’s Auskick clinic saw a dramatic increase in participants last month, with students staying after school once a week for eight weeks to learn the basics of footy.
As the program went on, the children progressed from basic skills into full-blown games of Aussie Rules.
The program saw an increase in multicultural participants compared to previous years, as well as a wider range of age groups taking part.
In the program’s final week the kids took on their parents, with the younger generation taking home the bragging rights.
The kids worked hard and threw everything at the match, eventually showing their parents up.
Just across the road, the Eumundi Goodstart kindergarten is about to become a trailblazer on the Sunshine Coast, hosting the region’s first Kinderkick program.
Kinderkick aims to introduce kindy-aged children to the basics of Australian football.
Both the Auskick and Kinderkick programs are crucial to building a strong foundation for the growth of footy on the Sunshine Coast.
