Division Two GF: Robina vs. Coorparoo

By Grant Hitzman

The end of the road is here.

After 20 weeks of fierce competition, the curtain will close on season 2013 this Saturday when Robina take on Coorparoo in the grand final decider at Yeronga.

Robina and Coorparoo have been the two finest teams all year and it is only fitting that the biggest day on the Division 2 calendar is contested between the competitions two pedigree clubs.

Robina have just the single blemish against their name this season, a tight 7-point loss against Alexandra Hills in round 9.

Coorparoo haven’t been quite as clinical as their grand final adversaries, but have nevertheless enjoyed a spectacular 2013 campaign, boasting a 13-3 record.

The Kings have, however, been there and done that, winning the past two consecutive premierships, despite going in as underdogs.

They’ll be hoping they can pull of a historic three-peat, and the Roos will be well aware of the experience they face in tomorrow’s decider.

Grand final day shapes as an interesting battle for the two teams, in what is set to be their third meeting of the year.

Robina lead the head-to-head 2-0.

They defeated the Kings by a comfortable 37-points in their semi-final clash a fortnight ago to earn a grand final berth.

Coorparoo shouldn’t be discouraged at the 6-goal defeat however, knowing they are more than capable of rattling Robina after falling perilously short by 2-points in round 6.

Robina’s Korey Fulton is one to watch on Saturday, the tall forward booting a whopping 125 goals in 2013.

Robina will head into Saturday’s decider as favourites, but Coorparoo can’t be counted out, desperate to avenge their two losses and secure a well deserved premiership.

The grand final will kick-off this Saturday at 2:15pm at Leyshon Park Yeronga.

Robina and Coorparoo’s reserves team will square off at 11:30 in the reserves grand final.
