Cross Border Competition Moves Ahead

AFL Queensland have today published the final five rounds of the QFA Division 2 South and QFAW Northern Rivers competitions.

With a cross border competition in the men’s space, the complexities surrounding the uncertainty of the NSW/QLD border restrictions required a fluid approach in terms of fixturing by AFL Queensland.

Following the initial release of the first three rounds for both the QFA Division 2 South and QFAWNR competitions in June, the release of the final five rounds provides all clubs with the ability to plan for the whole season.

AFL Queensland State Manager, Senior Football, Barry Gibson, expressed AFLQ’s appreciation for the patience shown by all clubs involved.

“We are very grateful for the clubs’ patience with this process.  It’s posed numerous challenges to our planning for both the Men’s and the Women’s competitions and the Northern Rivers clubs,”  Gibson said.

“The recent relaxations of the border access has enabled our competitions to move ahead, and today’s release provides clarity for all clubs on what their season will look like,” Gibson added.
