Cougars & Bombers go pink for charity

This Saturday the USQ Cougars will once again host the Hospitality Store Cancer Council Queensland Charity Match against the South Toowoomba Bombers at Baker St Oval, Toowoomba.

For the second time in the events four-year history the A Grade game will be played as a twilight  match with a full suite of junior fixtures and a Reserves match curtain raiser.

The event attracts support from across the Darling Downs with every specially designed pink University guernsey sponsored by a different business. Proceeds from a match-day BBQ and raffle will also go to the Cancer Council.

Event organiser and Under 16’s Coach Shane Melrose said the concept had been a big success.

“It’s great to see everyone in our club and across the community come out and support such a great cause.” said Mellor.

“Last year we were able to donate over $5000 for the cause which is just fantastic.”

Both sides will be going out to battle with plenty on the line.  The Cougars are looking to sure up a finals berth, while the Bombers are looking to regain top spot after their first loss of the season.

For a full day of football action and to support this great cause head down to the Baker St Oval at the USQ campus this Saturday.

Junior matches kick off with the Under 8’s and 10’s at 8:40am, with the A Grade fixture beginning at 4pm.
