Colts heavyweights face final hitout

Two of the standout Colts teams of 2014 will fight it out for the ultimate prize tomorrow, with Aspley and Surfers Sharks battling it out in the decider.

The Hornets lead all comers in the Colts (North) conference, before winning their two finals, including an impressive preliminary final win over Redland last weekend.

Surfers Sharks had a remarkably different entry into this weekend’s premiership match, jut scraping through with a one-point win over Maroochydore.

The Sharks will be hoping to address their kicking accuracy, after a 0.9 return in the first quarter last weekend.

In a low-scoring affair, the Sharks finished with a 5.14 return, but will need to improve on that against the high-flying Hornets.

Michael Balanda will be a potential danger man for the Sharks, after his impressive performance against the Roos last weekend, and Surfers will be after another strong game from him.

Aspley spearhead, Josh Elmslie,  is on track for an incredible 100-goal season, with his five preliminary final goals, putting him on 97 majors with one match left.

James Scroope has been in hot form for Aspley and was rated the best player for his side last weekend, an effort the Hornets will be hoping he produces.

A win for the Sharks, a joint venture between Southport and Surfers paradise, would partly avenge Southport’s  2013 grand final defeat, with coach, Jason Chantler, hungry to claim the flag this season.
