Colts Preliminary Finals

Redland vs. Aspley
Sunday  September 7
O’Callaghan Park, Zillmere
10AM

The Bombers take on the Hornets this Saturday for a berth in the colts grand final.

Redland enter the door-or-die clash with fresh legs having earned a week off following their seven-point win over Springwood in week two of the finals

On the other side of the equation, Aspley enters this weekend’s contest on the back of a confidence-restoring 34 point win over Wilston Grange last weekend.

One has to wonder whether Aspley’s loss to Surfers Sharks was the loss they needed to have leading into the pointy end of the finals series.

Surfers Sharks vs Maroochydore

The Surfers Sharks have barely put a foot wrong this finals series.

Following an first week bye on account of their ranking, the Sharks made short work of fellow preliminary finalists Aspley, earning themselves another week off in the process.

However, with only one game in three weeks, one has to wonder whether Surfers may be in a similar boat to Redland with respect to their lack of finals hit-outs.

Maroochydore have swept through all that has come before them this finals series.

Following on from their 112-point demolition of Caloundra in Round one, a week later the Roos clawed back an eight-point halftime deficit to hang on by five at the final siren against Sandgate.

Last weekend’s 101-point thumping of Springwood was an ominous message to the rest of the competition.

Like Richmond in the AFL , right now Maroochydore are a team no other side wants to face.

Having said that, the combined Gold Coast side will back themselves to put their fresh legs to good use and run their way into a maiden colts grand final.
