Caloundra launch fire appeal

Caloundra Panthers have launched the Buy a Brick Fundraiser  to assist with funding the rebuilding of their club house.

Following the devastating fire that destroyed their timekeepers box and part of the club house two weeks ago the local club are aiming to raise between $80,000-$100,000.

Caloundra MP, Mark McArdle was present for the official launch of the fundraising initiative and spoke highly of the Caloundra community spirit.

“This community, this club will not be beaten… this is the club that works on developing young people into young men and young women, a club that families come to get enjoyment and this club stands for what Caloundra is all about, that is making a family community,” McArdle said.

“Caloundra Panthers are a great body of men, women and children without them we would not have the Caloundra that we have at this point in time.

“The Caloundra Panthers might be down but they will roar back to life… they are determined to not let this beat them and I say to them, well done, congratulations, what a great effort.”

The Panthers have received a huge amount of support from club volunteers and community good-will since the fire through material donations and enormous amounts of volunteer hours cleaning, clearing and rebuilding.

The Buy a Brick Fundraiser will see internal bricks sold to individuals, businesses and organisations for $100 with a plaque to be placed on your brick to recognise your contribution in helping the Panthers rebuild their club house.

With 660 bricks for sale the Panthers will be working hard to sell as many bricks as possible over the next couple of weeks.
