AFLQ Youth and Junior footy kicks off

Thousands of kids across the state will lace up their boots this weekend with the return of junior footy fixtures.

This season, an extra 54 teams will compete in the South East Queensland (SEQ) Junior Competition with the under 13s age group showing the most growth with an additional 28 teams this year.

Overall, more than 14,000 kids will participate in the SEQ Junior Competition with an extra five teams in the youth competition and another 50 in the juniors.

The Youth Competition kicks off this weekend with more than 4,800 kids taking part, an extra 650 participants on last year.

Youth footy is tailor made for players of all abilities and aspirations and caters to kids from u13s, 15 and 17s. An ideal progression from either NAB AFL Auskick or junior footy, youth footy provides players with the opportunity to play in a graded competition within a club environment. It’s fun, fast, and skillful, and gives kids the chance for players to play football with their mates and establish new friendships, with a distinct focus on team building.

Then next weekend Footy4Fun kicks off with more than 9,200 participants, including an additional 100 girls and 500 boys on this time last year.

Footy4Fun is the next step in the junior football pathways for kids who have graduated from the NAB AFL Auskick and Superstars programs.

There’s still time to register for the SEQ Junior and Youth Competitions at play.afl.
