AFL Umpires Simon Meredith, Nick Liparota. Brendan Hosking and Adam Wojcik will visit the Gold Coast, Northern Rivers, Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay from Monday March 3 as part of the AFL Umpire Roadshow.
The group will participate in a series of umpiring events including workshops, training sessions and an umpiring course.
The Umpire Roadshow is an AFL initiative which enables elite level umpires to visit metropolitan and regional areas across Australia to promote umpiring and positive match day environments.
The Northern Rivers and Gold Coast sessions will feature field umpire Meredith, a 217-game veteran who officiated at the 2013 AFL Grand Final and boundary umpire Liparota, another AFL finals veteran.
Victorian field umpire Brendan Hosking will join with 2013 AFL Grand Final goal umpire, Adam Wojcik, for the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay leg of the tour.
AFL Queensland Community Umpiring Development Officer Pierce Field, who will travel with the groups, said the roadshow would provide a unique opportunity for the regions’ umpiring fraternity.
“The Umpires Roadshow is a great chance for young and aspiring umpires to tap into the expertise of the AFL’s elite level umpires,” said Field.
“These guys have worked long and hard to progress through the ranks and their stories will be invaluable to our young umpires who want to take their skills to the next level.”
