SEQ Community Football Awards Season

Queensland State League Awards (Grogan/Zielke Medal Night)

In light of the ever-changing COVID situation, the difficult decision has been made to make the 2021 AFL Queensland State League Awards night a virtual event.

How fortunate we are in Southeast Queensland to have played a fantastic season of football across our QAFL and Bond University QAFLW competitions. The night will celebrate our Queensland state league competitions, and of course announce the winners of the 76th J.A Grogan Medal and our inaugural Emma Zielke Medal to our Best and Fairest QAFL/QAFLW players.

The event will be broadcast on its traditional day as the Sunday before the QAFL Grand Final; Sunday 12th September from 6pm. We encourage everyone from our football community to get involved in these awards and best of all, you can do it from the comfort of your own living room (or backyard/shed/clubhouse…!)

As well as announcing the full suite of awards, the event will include video highlights and season look-backs ahead of the QAFL Grand Final, scheduled to be played on September 18th.

QAFL awards will be presented to the recipients at the QAFL Grand Final day.  QAFLW Clubs will be informed of the process to hand out the awards and medallions following the virtual awards.

Youth Football Awards

The virtual 2021 Youth Football Awards will be broadcast on the AFL Queensland YouTube and Facebook channels on Monday, 30th August. We’ve got some very special guests from the Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast SUNS on board to help announce our Best and Fairest players from our U12 – U17 competitions. Stay tuned!

All Best and Fairest Award winners will be presented their medals at their respective competition Grand Final days.

Community Football Awards (seniors)

Each AFL Queensland senior football competition will have its own virtual awards in 2021. The awards will be broadcast on a weeknight leading into the competition’s Grand Final.
