AFL AUSKICK VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

AFL Queensland is seeking volunteers to assist with halftime NAB AFL Auskick activities at AFL matches at the Gabba and Gold Coast Stadium in 2011.

AFL Queensland is calling for expressions of interest from volunteers prepared to assist with halftime NAB AFL Auskick activities at AFL matches at the Gabba and Gold Coast Stadium in 2011.

Volunteers are required to assist with the delivery of the half time activities for NAB AFL Auskick participants and their parents. Volunteers are normally required from one and a half hours prior to the start of the AFL match until part way through the third quarter.

Positions available as outlined below are:-

• The Gabba – Match Day Volunteers
• Gold Coast – Venue Coordinator & Match Day Volunteers

Position Description – Match Day Volunteer

The Match Day Volunteers reports directly to Venue Coordinator.  If required, the Match Day Volunteer can also contact the State Participation Manager for any queries or concerns.  The Match Day Volunteer must endeavor to be available for all the AFL matches allocated to them.

Structure of Staff/Volunteers for NAB AFL Auskick at Half-time:
 State Participation Manager
 Venue Coordinator
 Match Day Volunteer

The role responsibilities include:
 Provide the AFL with a working with children check and returned volunteer agreement form prior to commencing the role. 
 Responsible for assisting with the facilitation of NAB AFL Auskick on the ground at half-time on their located day/s throughout the home & away season and finals series (as required).  It is imperative that volunteers follow AFL guidelines which outline the correct procedures for the appropriate delivery of the NAB AFL Auskick program at half-time.
 Represent the AFL is the correct and appropriate manner and follow all instructions provided by the Match Day Coordinator. 
 Dress in the correct apparel and display the appropriate identification supplied by the AFL at all times.
 Communicate effectively and responsibly with all parties involved in NAB AFL Auskick at half-time.  This includes: Venue Coordinator, volunteer match day team, children and parents participating at half-time, other AFL staff and venue personnel.
 Arrive for their duties at least 15 minutes prior to the required time. 
 Account for and return all resources after each match to the correct storage area.  Any problems regarding resources are to be reported directly to the Venue Coordinator.
 Advise the Venue Coordinator if they are able not able to complete their duties and assist in finding a suitable replacement during their absence.
 Immediately advise the State Participation Manager of any changes to contact details.
 Actively promote and encourage involvement in the NAB AFL Auskick program at all times.
 Carry out any other duties as requested by the Venue Coordinators or AFL as required.

Failure to comply with these above responsibilities and terms and conditions in the volunteer agreement may result in the volunteer withdrawing from their responsibilities.

Position Description – Venue Coordinator

The AFL conducts NAB AFL Auskick grid games and little league matches at half time of every scheduled match during the NAB Cup, Toyota Home & Away season and Toyota AFL Finals series. To coordinate and ensure the smooth running of these activities, the AFL utilises the services of a Venue Coordinator. The Venue Coordinator is a volunteer position, reporting to The State AFL Auskick Manager and overseeing a team of match day volunteers.

The role responsibilities include:
 Responsible for the overall facilitation of NAB AFL Auskick on the ground at half-time throughout the home and way season and finals series as required.
 Assist the State Participation Manager with the design of information outlining correct procedures for Match Day Volunteers to use as guidelines for the appropriate running of the program.
 Follow AFL guidelines outlining correct procedures for the appropriate delivery of the NAB AFL Auskick program at half-time.  Ensure Match Day Volunteers are facilitating half-time in accordance with these guidelines.
 Ensure all match day volunteers and participants are representing the AFL in the appropriate manner. 
 Communicate effectively and responsibly with all parties involved in NAB AFL Auskick at half-time.  This includes volunteer match day team, children and parents participating at half-time, other AFL staff and venue personnel.
 Coordinate the facilitation of grid games on occasions where it is deemed necessary.  This may include:
o Assist Coordinators with phone calls where required.
o Arrive for duties at least 15 minutes prior to the required time. 
o Ensure only the required volunteers are on the boundary at half-time.
o Ensure all volunteers on ground at half-time (grid personnel and the AFL volunteers) are fitted in the correct apparel and displaying correct identification supplied by the AFL.
o All resources are to be accounted for after each match and returned to the correct storage area.  Any problems are to be reported directly to the State Participation Manager.
o Troubleshoot problems and forward on to head office if relevant.
 Advise the State Participation Manager of any new volunteers and provide their relevant details (including police check) prior to their commencement.
 In accordance with the guidelines supplied by the AFL, train new volunteers and provide progress reports to the State Participation Manager.
 Advise the State Participation Manager if you are able not able to complete your duties and assist in finding a suitable replacement during your absence.
