2020 Hart Sport Cup Fixture Set

AFL Queensland have today released the Division 1 Hart Sport Cup fixture, with competition newcomer Beenleigh hosting Springwood in Round 1.

In a revamped 10 round season, seven clubs will vie for the premiership title. Each club will play 8 home and away games and have two byes.

With a Round 1 bye, reigning champions Noosa will have to wait a week to unfurl their premier flag.

With the NEAFL competition not proceeding in 2020, early indications suggest several clubs may be the beneficiary of some additional talent on their lists.

The Final Series takes on a completely different look in 2020. In week one, the minor premier will host the fourth placed team, while  second will host third. The two winners from week one will then meet in the Grand Final on September 26.

AFL Queensland State Manager – Senior Football Operations, Barry Gibson, said the new look Finals system was something quite unique and would no doubt create a fair bit of interest over the 10 Round season.

“The COVID situation presented the comp with a few challenges, however the clubs supporting a top 4 finals system where nobody gets a second chance, adds something different.

“We expect the last week of home and away matches could well see all teams still in the mix for a top four finish,” Gibson said.
