The Queensland Football Forensics will host the first of their footballing history talks for the season.
Following their exciting re-launch last month, The Queensland Australian Football Forensics (QAFF) is proud to announce the first in a series of football history talks planned for this season.
QAFF will host Greg de Moore, the prize-winning biographer of early football and cricket pioneer Tom Wills.
Wills was the captain of the Victorian colony cricket team and the first real hero of Australian Rules Football.
De Moore’s biography follows Wills’ life from his sporting triumphs, his attachment to Indigenous Australians (arguably his deepest legacy) right through to his death as an alcoholic in 1880.
The tragic Wills story embodies a tradition that weds sport and alcohol in Australian culture.
To be held at the Pineapple Hotel on Monday April 23, de Moore will present an audio visual presentation about his ten years of exhaustive research into this troubled sportsman.
His work has uncovered original medical records, letters, textbooks and notes that were previously believed to have been lost or destroyed.
Signed copies of de Moore’s book – Tom Wills: His Spectacular Rise and Tragic Fall – will be available at the event for $20.
