QIS DIVISION 1 GRAND FINAL NIGHT

All the information you need about Friday’s big Division One Grand Final Night at Yeronga.

This Friday night will see the best of the best Independent Schools battle out the Division One Grand Finals of the Queensland Independent Schools AFL Competition for 2011.

With some close games and great footy played throughout the season, the finals culminate in the annual Division One gala night with six schools contesting the six premierships on offer.

Brisbane Boys’ College has been particularly consistent this year, and will play in four of the grand finals on Friday, no doubt hoping to take the extra step and claim the Jason Dunstall Division One Cup which they came close to claiming last year.

They are followed closely by Brisbane Grammar School who will contest three of the three divisions they entered teams in, including defending their Year 8 and 10 premierships from 2010.

St Joseph’s Nudgee College will contest two division one grand finals: Year 10 and their First XVIII against the Open ladder leader BBC. Nudgee’s other senior boys have done equally as well making the Open Div 3 & Div 4 grand finals, to be played Thursday at Zillmere.

Anglican Church Grammar, Brisbane State High School and John Paul College will contest one grand final each Friday, with Churchie taking on BBC in the Year 7 grand final and State High and JPC to contest the Open Division 2 Michael Voss Trophy.

For parents and supporters wanting to attend Friday:

Fields: Yeronga AFC is located at Cansdale St, Yeronga. There are two fields: the field on the corner of the Brisbane Corso and Cansdale Street will be ‘Field 1’; the back field on Cansdale Street will be ‘Field 2’.

Parking: There are car parking spaces within AFL Queensland’s grounds off Cansdale Street, however it is limited. Parents are asked not to park in Olympic Soccer Club across the road as they will most likely have Friday fixtures on and require the space themselves.

Undercover Areas: The forecast unfortunately is for rain Friday so bring your wet weather jackets and umbrellas. Regardless of the weather conditions, the games will go ahead no matter how wet it is.

Canteen: Will be running throughout the course of the night with hot and cold food and refreshments.
