Schools in Division Two of the Brisbane Lions Cup will have their final round of qualifying matches at Dittmer Park, Mt.Gravatt, today.

Undefeated Benowa State High School are favored to beat Merrimac State High and Wavell State High School in the round-robin series for Open age students (Years 10-12), sponsored by Quest Community Newspapers.

Benowa will be led by Brody Haberfield, brother of former Gold Coast AFL signing Jesse Haberfield, in matches from 10am to 2pm that will decide who will play in the Grand Final at the end of Term 2.

Final qualifying matches in Division Three of the Brisbane Lions Cup will be held next Tuesday at a venue still to be confirmed.

Defending champions Corinda State High are undefeated in the early part of the series against Robina State High, Centenary State High, The Gap State High and competition newcomers Mt.Gravatt State High.

They, too, will be chasing a spot in the end-of-term Grand Final.

In Division One of the Brisbane Lions Cup for the AFLQ Schools of Excellence, Nerangbah Valley lead the way in both the senior (Grades 10-12) and junior (Grade 8-9) competition.

In the senior division they share the lead with Helensvale State High but are well ahead on percentage, and are ahead of Helensvale on points in the junior division.

Round 3 games in Division One are being played this week.
