The return of Queensland community footy is near, and fixtures for the QFA and QFAW Division 2 South competitions have been confirmed.
The men’s league is set to commence on April 6, with eight teams playing 16 games over 19 weeks.
2024 sees a new joint venture in the men’s competition, with Ballina and Byron Bay joining together to play under the new Southern Stingrays banner.
A Grand Final rematch between reigning premiers Burleigh and minor premiers Bond University will take place in Round 3 of QFA Division 2 South at PRD Real Estate Burleigh Oval.
QFA Division 2 South will celebrate the themed rounds in line with the rest of the state including ANZAC Round (four), Sir Doug Nicholls Rounds (six and seven) and Pride Round on July 15.
QFA Competition Manager, Travis Bell, anticipates another competitive season.
“This year will be another very high level of competition with all clubs recruiting well in the off season including several ex QAFL players as well as some former AFL players,” he said.
“It’s going to be hard to pick a favourite early in the season – this could be anyone’s year to take out the premiership.”
QFAW Division 2 South is set to commence on April 13, with 13 teams playing 14 games over 16 rounds.
A Grand Final rematch between Ballina and Tweed will headline Round 1 of QFAW Division 2 South.
This year will see the return of Byron Bay after a one-year stint in the Northern Rivers Competition, plus the addition of Alexandra Hills.
QFAW Division 2 South will also celebrate the themed rounds in line with the rest of the state including ANZAC Round (three), Sir Doug Nicholls Rounds (five and six) and Pride Round on July 15.
QFAW Competition Manager, Grace Winch, said she was looking forward to the season and was excited to see what the new makeup of the teams would mean for the competition.
“It’s always interesting to see how the dynamic changes whenever a team enters or re-enters the competition,” she said.
