2024 ANZAC Cup – QLD Fire & Rescue v the Australian Army

This afternoon Friday 19th April, QLD Fire & Rescue will be playing the Australian Army in 2 games of AFL Football playing for the 2024 ANZAC Cup.  This event will be played at the home of the Brisbane Lions, Brighton Homes Arena located at Eden Station Drive in Springfield Lakes. 

This will be a free community event and in addition to the AFL matches, the following will be set up:

  • ANZAC Catafalque Party Ceremony (Last Post / Reveille / Flag Orderlies)
  • Fire trucks (Heavy Rescue / Technical Rescue / Aerial Appliances)
  • Army Armoured vehicles (Boxer and PMV Bushmaster – See attached photos for reference)
  • QLD Police and QLD Ambulance Stalls
  • Community Safety stalls
  • AusKick events
  • Fire & Rescue Recruitment Stall – Talent Acquisition
  • Community Canteen run by the Defence Veteran supported “Wounded Heroes”
  • Ice-cream Truck and Donut Stand
  • QLD Air Rescue-500Helicopter delivering the match football via a “hover and winch crewman”
  • Free face painting
  • Licenced Bar
  • Fireworks Display!

 

Timings are as follows:

  • Gates Open – 3:00pm
  • Women’s game commences – 3.30pm
  • ANZAC Catafalque Party 5.15pm
  • Rescue-500 Helicopter arrival – 5.25pm
  • Men’s game commences – 5.30pm
  • Fireworks Display – 7.30pm
