Ex-AFL talent selected in 2019 NEAFL Mini Draft

By Ant Wingard

Over 20 NEAFL players have found their place on QAFL lists following the 2019 NEAFL Mini Draft late last week.

In total, 23 players from Queensland’s three standalone NEAFL clubs were allocated to the QAFL’s ten clubs.

In an attempt to create a stronger link between NEAFL and QAFL clubs, these chosen players are eligible to play if not chosen for NEAFL team selection.

Among those selected in the draft were former Brisbane Lions utility, Liam Dawson, who was allocated to Wilston Grange.

After crossing over from Box Hill, fellow Aspley recruit Billy Murphy was chosen by Sandgate, while Redland pair Sam Cunnington and Phil Carse were assigned to Morningside.

Southport recruits Matt Shaw and Mackenzie Willis were selected to Surfers Paradise and Palm Beach Currumbin respectively.
