2017 QAFL Top 50

It’s that time of year again with the 2017 QAFL season in the bank and a fantastic grand final now gently relegated to the footy history books. We’re talking about QAFL Top 50 time.

This year the panel included: AFLQ Football Writer Sean Melrose, Wilston Grange superstar forward and Assistant Coach Matthew Trewhella, Palm Beach Currumbin Senior Coach Chad Owens and AFL Queensland Umpire Cameron Williamson.

There have been some tense discussions as the selection team locked horns and spat dummies, to put together the 2017 QAFL Top 50.

To qualify, players needed to have played a minimum of three games, while the rankings were based on player influence and consistency during the 2017 season.

Each day next week, starting Monday with the 50 to 41 list, ten players will be announced, building up to the top 10 on Friday.

Criteria:

Influence

What has each player’s impact on games been like? How much did they impose themselves, and how much of a difference did they directly make throughout the year?

Ability to change a game

Have they been able to turn a game around themselves and shift momentum? It may have been by a few marks, their disposal, goals, or shutting an opposition player down.

Consistency

How often were they good? Was it just a couple of games, or have they done it all year
