150 year project – QAFF needs your help!

2016 represents 150 years of Australian Football in Queensland.

A band of volunteer historians, Queensland Australian Football Forensics (QAFF), has spent the past six years researching the history of our code in our state.  The culmination of their work will be the production of a comprehensive book, in excess of 800 pages.  The goal of QAFF is to produce 1000 standard copies of the book, plus a further 100 Special Edition copies.

To self-publish the history of Queensland football, QAFF needs to raise $50,000.  Whilst starting with a balance of $0, through hard work and perseverance, and the support of businesses and individuals with a shared vision, the group has raised almost 40% of the total.

However, QAFF now needs the help of the football public.

Here is how you and your club can help:

  • Financial assistance is required to complete the project and get the book published. If you have a current sponsor or know a business that would like to link themselves with this prodigious and exceptional work, please let QAFF know. All sponsors will be rewarded with packages that provide value for money.
  • If you cannot afford to sponsor the Q150 project, pre-purchase of the book(s) is equally helpful. This can be arranged on their website, www.q150.net.au – or even better, via their crowdfunding page: https://ozcrowd.com/campaigns/q150-150-years-of-australian-football-in-queensland/#.VteN1KN–Uk QAFF is also very happy to offer clubs discounts for multiple purchases.
  • If you are unable to assist financially, please let others know about the project: club sponsors & members, players, supporters, friends, etc. Word-of-mouth can often be the best promotion. It would be a shame if someone was keen to participate in the project, but was never given the opportunity.  By spreading the message, you will help.
  • There is always more information to gather. The jigsaw of Queensland football is taking shape – but if you have any obscure fact that can help fill a blank, QAFF wants to hear from you. It could be an article, photo, program, trophy, guernsey, etc – all info helps.  Throughout 2016, with the support of www.aflq-new.fspdev.com, QAFF will also present a weekly glimpse into our past.

QAFF appreciates that clubs are constantly trying to organise their own fundraising.  However, this is a unique project, one that has never previously been attempted for Queensland.  A successful result will provide an enormous positive promotion of the code in Queensland.

QAFF is very keen to speak with any interested people of groups willing to assist.

Ultimately, the purpose of the Q150 project is to recognise and celebrate YOUR history.  Only your support can make this project become a reality.
