Umpiring in the Community

Quality umpiring is one of the primary reasons why players continue to participate in Australian Rules Football. Teaching the skills, tactics and strategies of Australian football umpiring is a rewarding experience, with the umpire having the most influence upon other officials or persons connected with football.

The AFL Queensland Umpiring Department have developed training programs which can be delivered to school students, football clubs, community groups and any other groups interested in becoming an AFL umpire.

A program can be set to meet your needs and the needs of the group. If you are a school teacher looking for an officiating course for a term or a football club looking for a short 30 minute umpiring session then we have a course for you.

We offer this service to schools, football clubs, community groups and other groups at no cost and will make sure all participants are capable and ready to umpire in all AFL Queensland competitions.

If you are interested in conducting an AFL Umpiring Training program in your school, football club or community group please contact AFL Queensland Community Umpiring Development Manager, Haydn O’Connor
